Former Arsenal winger Robert Pires believes that Arsene Wenger is set to follow the Sir Alex Ferguson path by finishing his career at the Gunners.

Ferguson stood down from his post as Manchester United boss at the end of last season after clocking up over 26 years with the Red Devils; the Scot retired from management and took up a dual role as a director and ambassador at the club.

Wenger has been at Arsenal since 1996, but his current contract expires next summer and he is yet to pen an extension, with Paris Saint-Germain monitoring his situation carefully.

But Pires believes Arsenal have nothing to worry about and sees Wenger spending his entire career at the Gunners.

The former France international told 20 Minutes: "I feel that he is always very motivated for his post at Arsenal.

"He built the club and gave them a philosophy of play, I don't think he'll jump ship now.

"I think he will have the same fate that Alex Ferguson had with Manchester United and he will end his career at Arsenal.

"And there he has a very influential role as the manager that it would be hard to find elsewhere."
