Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has hailed Steven Gerrard's 15 years playing for the Reds as a "remarkable achievement".

Tomorrow will mark 15 years since Gerrard made his debut for his boyhood club, coming on as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers.

The skipper has established himself as a legend at the club and held aloft the Champions League in 2005, following a remarkable final against AC Milan, during which he inspired a comeback from 3-0 down.

And Mignolet is full of admiration for Gerrard, being quoted as saying by his club's official site: "To spend 15 years playing for Liverpool Football Club is a remarkable achievement.

"It's a great credit to Steven that he has remained at the highest level for so long and he's still such an important player for us.

"The fact that he's still so fit and runs as many miles as he does during games shows you how well he has looked after himself.

"It's not only what he does on the pitch but the way he is off it as well. He's a gentleman. He has achieved so much in his career and I wish him many more years at Liverpool."

Gerrard is aiming to help Liverpool return to the Champions League this season, with the Reds currently sitting an impressive second in the table.
