Bayern Munich have secured full-back David Alaba to a new contract running until the summer of 2018.

The Austrian international's current deal had been due to expire in 2015, but the new agreement means Alaba will remain for a further five years.

The 21-year-old, who can also operate as a midfielder, joined the Bavarians' youth ranks in 2008, moving from Austria Vienna.

Alaba has since taken great strides forward in his career and helped Bayern Munich win a Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League treble last season.
