Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz has apologised to Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben for a tackle that saw the Dutchman stretchered off, though the extent of the injury is yet to be determined.
Robben needed heavy strapping on a bleeding right knee after a tackle by Hitz during a Bayern Munich attack in last night's DFB Pokal clash against their Bavarian rivals.
Robben opened the scoring early on but was stretchered off after 16 minutes, though Bayern secured their quarter-final berth thanks to Thomas Muller's late strike.
While there is hope that Robben will make the FIFA Club World Cup competition, due to start this month, Hitz was quoted on Bayern Munich's website as saying: "I'm very sorry. That was not intentional."

Robben is the architect of 13 of Bayern Munich's goals this season in all competitions, and it remains to be seen what scans will show.
And coach Pep Guardiola added: "I hope Arjen can help us, at least at the Club World Cup again."
Muller, whose 78th-minute goal sealed the deal, admitted the derby had been intense, saying: "It was a heated game with emotion and aggression. Therefore, we are very pleased with the result."
