Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers could be missing out on striker Paul-Georges Ntep with Auxerre agreeing a €6m deal with Rennes, according to L'Equipe.

The Auxerre to Rennes transfer may come as a surprise given that Paris Saint-Germain and Roma were also in the running for Ntep.

Indeed, Ntep had expressed his liking for Arsenal in early December, even though he was keen to become a regular player at the Emirates Stadium and not just a benchwarmer.

However, Rennes look likely to complete the deal now, despite QPR also taking an active interest in recent days.

The 21-year-old was being monitored by Borussia Monchengladbach as well, but Rennes were credited with a €4m bid earlier this week.

It would appear Auxerre have pushed for a higher value, and Ntep is set to receive bonuses in a similar vein.

Ntep is currently contracted at Auxerre until 2015, and has been a key player in their push for promotion.

He has scored seven goals in 17 games for Auxerre, who are eight points off the promotion spots, albeit in 11th place.
