Aston Villa still believe in summer signing Nicklas Helenius, but may consider loaning the striker out, his agent has claimed.

The Danish striker landed at Villa Park last summer from Aalborg in his homeland, though has struggled to make a real impact.

Indeed, the 22-year-old has yet to start a match in the Premier League, although he has featured three times from the bench.

He scored his first Aston Villa goal earlier this month, finding the back of the net from the bench in his club's 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United.

But he may not get the chance to build on that this term, with a loan a concrete possibility for Helenius.

"Nicklas is happy at Aston Villa. It is clear that he will not be sold in this transfer window. They have told him they believe in him", Mads Bach Lund told Ekstra Bladet.

"If something happens, it will be a loan.

"Now the question which arises is whether Aston Villa want him to develop at a slightly lower level or whether he will continue at the club.

"Nicklas is happy to be at the club. But the question of course is whether he is in their plans for the spring, part of the match squad of 18 players.

"If he is not part of the plans for that squad, it makes perfect sense for him to get playing time in the spring at a lower level."
