Athletic Bilbao have given up on their dream of signing Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea for next season, according to Spanish daily Marca.
The Basque side had been hopeful of tempting the Spain international to the club, having identified him as a key summer target.

But following Azpilicueta securing a starting spot in the Chelsea team, Athletic Bilbao have been forced to abandon their plans to buy the defender, believing there is little chance that the Blues will sell.
Azpilicueta is also happy at Stamford Bridge, having used Chelsea as a springboard to force his way into the Spain squad.
