Nemanja Vidic believes it is essential Manchester United make Old Trafford a fortress again, starting with Sunday's match against rivals Liverpool.

This term the reigning champions have seen clubs arrive at Old Trafford without the fear factor and as a result several sides have come away with convincing victories.

Indeed, West Brom, Everton, Newcastle and Swansea have all tasted victory at the ground, while Southampton grabbed a draw and Stoke pushed Manchester United all the way only to eventually go down 3-2.

The club's lacklustre home form has contributed towards a current Premier League placing of sixth and Vidic knows it must be addressed if the Red Devils are to move forward.

"Most importantly, we must win our home games, which isn’t going to be easy", he explained to MUTV.

"We’ve had some bad results at Old Trafford, so we have to assess the problem and change things."

Vidic is leaving Manchester United for Inter at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract and the Serbian is keen to go out on a high.

"At the end of the season, a really important part of my life and career will be over, and that’s sad", he said.

"I’ve been starting to think about the times I’ve spent here, the good and bad moments. I’ve been a part of so much success and worked with so many great people who’ve helped me to develop as a footballer.

"But that’s the way it is, that’s life and you have to move on. I’m looking forward to a new challenge but there is still lots for me to do here."
