Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed the rebuilding job at Old Trafford is harder than he thought it would be when he took charge last summer.

Moyes watched his side outplayed in their own backyard by fierce rivals Liverpool earlier today, the Reds running out 3-0 winners in a game which could have even seen them register more goals.

It was a result which all but ends Manchester United's chances of finishing in the Premier League's top four – they are seventh and 12 points off fourth spot – and left Moyes reassessing the job at hand.

"We have to play better and make ourselves harder to beat, harder to play against and we are also going to have to make sure we are creating and taking more opportunities", he was quoted as saying by ITV.

"We have a lot to do to do both those things.

"I think the job was always going to be hard. Yes, it is harder [than I thought], I would say so."

Moyes must now rally his troops for a vital Champions League clash against Olympiacos on Wednesday.

The Red Devils lost the first leg of their Round of 16 clash in Greece 2-0 and face a tough task to turn around the tie.
