Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has taken a different view to manager David Moyes over the penalties awarded to Liverpool earlier today.

The Reds saw three spot-kicks awarded in their favour at Old Trafford, scoring two on the way to a 3-0 win over Rooney and co.

Liverpool also saw an appeal for another penalty waved away on the day, after Michael Carrick scythed Daniel Sturridge's ankle in the box.

Moyes said post-match that he felt "some were penalties, some weren't", while bemoaning his side's continuing bad luck.

Rooney though, who admitted that the game marked one of the worst days of his life, could see no issue with any of the spot-kicks awarded.

"I haven’t seen the penalties back again but from where I was standing on the pitch I don’t think we can argue with them", the striker explained to MUTV.

The result leaves Manchester United a whopping 14 points off Liverpool, who sit second in the Premier League, while the Red Devils are just seventh.
