Arsenal playmaker Tomas Rosicky insists that his team are not bothered about what critics think, as they aim to fight for top spot in the Premier League this season.

Having last won the league in 2004, the Gunners are fighting hard to add more silverware to their cabinet.

However, the journey hasn't been that smooth with Arsene Wenger's men surrendering top spot to leaders Chelsea this term. They are currently placed third in the league, trailing Liverpool on goal difference.

However, the win against Tottenham on Sunday has helped the team silence their critics, after a brief spell of disappointment when they were knocked out of the Champions League after losing 3-1 on aggregate to the defending champions Bayern Munich.

"You cannot influence what the people around you are saying. I mean no disrespect to you [reporters], but I absolutely don't care what you are saying – don't take it negatively, but it is like that", Rosicky was quoted as saying by ITV.

The 1-0 win, came during a weekend which saw league leaders Chelsea drop points against Aston Villa, thus narrowing down the gap at the top of the table to just four points.

The 33-year-old, who scored the only goal of the match, thinks that Arsenal need to keep winning in order to prove the media wrong and further their push towards winning the league.

"What counts is that you come to the pitch and win the game, if you don't win the game, obviously you are right.

"The only thing that you can influence is on the pitch, the truth is on the pitch, nothing else matters", Rosicky added.
