Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was happy with his side’s performance in the north London derby, having started the game on the back of last week’s defeats against Chelsea and Benfica.

Spurs lost their league game against Arsenal 1-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday, thanks to a Tomas Rosicky strike just 72 seconds into play, but the French international believes that the scoreline did not do justice to the performance put up by the Lilywhites, who were already short on confidence.

Tim Sherwood’s men lost 3-1 in the first leg of their last 16 Europa League tie against Portuguese side Benfica last week, after being thrashed 4-0 by Premier League leaders Chelsea over the weekend.

“We didn’t deserve to lose that game [against Arsenal]”, Lloris told Tottenham’s website.

“We know we are in a difficult situation and we lost some confidence after the Chelsea and Benfica games.

“But today we were creative and even after the goal we kept our heads high and we tried to come back.

“Some things went against us but that’s football. It’s like that.

“We now need to put on great performances until the end of the season and we’re going to see after that where we will be”, the 27-year-old added.

Tottenham, who are currently fifth in the league table seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, will play their second leg of the Europa League tie on 20th March, before they return to Premier League duty to face Southampton and Liverpool.
