Sherwood has promised that Spurs will give their all to plot a path to the Europa League quarter-finals, but according to the Press Association, they are likely to have to do so without the services of a recognised centre-back.
Spurs currently have Vlad Chiriches and Michael Dawson sidelined through injury, while Jan Vertonghen is suspended for the clash.

Younes Kaboul is struggling with injury too, having only taken part in Sunday's 1-0 defeat against Arsenal after undergoing a late fitness test.
Should Kaboul not be available, Spurs may have to deploy midfielder Sandro as a centre-back.
Full-back Kyle Walker is also doubtful for the Benfica game with a groin niggle.
