Zenit St. Petersburg have confirmed that former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has been appointed as the new manager of the club.

The Russian giants parted ways with former manager Luciano Spalletti last week after a string of poor results which left the club with just one win in eleven competitive games.

On the other hand, Villas-Boas has also been sacked this season, by Tottenham in December after he failed to convince at White Hart Lane, despite the club spending more than £100m in the summer.

The Portuguese tactician, who has been provided with a two-and-a-half-year contract by Zenit, will be officially presented as the club’s new boss on Thursday.
