Victory in all those games will ensure that Manchester City sit three points clear off Mourinho’s men, but a win against Manchester United next week will be a crucial factor as Fernandinho is sure that the Red Devils’ will be highly motivated after their recent bad run.

"That game can change everything”, the Brazil international was quoted as saying by ITV.

"I hope our team will be ready and we can walk the streets without any problems and that our fans can give us some hugs afterwards.

"When you win these games, you can walk down the street, but not when you lose.

"The derby is important for the players, the fans and the city, and of course it will be special for everyone.

“Both teams will be motivated. They have a lot of things to be motivated about and we are motivated about the title race.

"I think the game will be beautiful – I just hope we play very well", the 28-year-old added.

Manchester City won their last league game 2-0 against Hull City on Saturday and will play bottom-placed Fulham this weekend before they head into the Manchester derby.
