Olympiacos goalkeeper Roy Carroll has admitted  that former club Manchester United’s slump in performances this year have shocked him, but believes his team will still have to put their best foot forward as they meet the Red Devils for the Champions League second leg at Old Trafford tonight.

The Greek league leaders defeated the English giants 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie, where David Moyes’ men managed just one shot on target, and Carroll, who was part of the Red Devils from 2001 until 2005, cannot believe their decline in form.

"I have never seen Manchester United not create many chances. It was a big shock, especially their performance", the 36-year-old told the BBC .

"At Old Trafford, it has been very disappointing for them this season. They have lost a lot of games and let a lot of goals in.

"If we can keep them quiet, hopefully the fans will get on the back of the players and make them more nervous.

"We have to go out like we did at home and attack. It is very important for our players to try to get a goal.

"We have to defend well because a strike-force like Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie can score at any time.

"We have great respect for them; we know what they can do. Manchester United can turn it around", the Northern Irishman added.

Manchester United are currently reeling at a lowly seventh in the Premier League, and winning the Champions League this year looks to be the only way for them to be part of the European tournament next season.
