Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan is delighted with the prospect of seeing defender Jores Okore back on the field for the Villans.

The Danish international joined the Villa Park club in 2013, but after featuring in just three games for Paul Lambert’s side, has been sidelined due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee since September.

But the 21-year-old has already started working outside and will be back to full training soon and Guzan believes that both Okore and the club are excited about his return.

“We're delighted that Jores is getting close. It's been terrible for him”, the American international told Aston Villa’s official website.

"Whenever you get an injury like that, it's never nice. But to get it when you first come to a club like with what happened to Jores, you really feel for him.

"He never got a chance to get going. Before he knew it, he was out for months. We are excited at the prospect of seeing him with us again.

"But we know, he still has a road ahead of him still. It's important not to rush back.

"But the fact he is getting closer to a return to full training is just great news.

"You can see his bubbliness increase and his excitement levels build. He's looking forward to it. We have all the confidence in the world in Jores”, the 29-year-old added.

Having conceded 38 goals in 29 league games, the return of Okore at the back might just be the boost the team, currently tenth in the Premier League, need as they look to climb their way up the table.
