Celtic manager Neil Lennon has distanced the club from speculation that a swoop for Manchester United striker Federico Macheda is on the cards.

Facing the media at the club's Lennoxtown base, Lennon described talk a move for the Italian was on the agenda as "wild speculation".

The Northern Irishman also insisted that the Scottish champions are well-stocked for strikers at present.

"A striker is always a priority position but at the minute we've got very good players in that position", Lennon said.

However, transfer planning for the summer is certainly under way at Celtic Park, the boss explained.

"We've got an extensive list of players we’re looking at to possibly bring in this summer.

"We’re looking at four or five positions", Lennon added.

Celtic are running away with the Scottish Premiership at present this season and currently sit 24 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and third-placed Motherwell.
