Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel is eyeing a spot in the Holland World Cup squad for Brazil this summer as he nears his return to full fitness.

The 21-year-old was signed up by the Blues in 2013, but was sidelined due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury during his fourth appearance for the English club in a League Cup tie against Swindon Town in September, and has not played a game since then.

But the Dutchman is ready to make a comeback and has travelled with Chelsea’s Under-21 squad for their game against Manchester United on Friday, and with the World Cup just around the corner, the youngster dreams of playing for the Louis van Gaal’s Oranje.

"Everyone has their dreams. It would be wonderful to get to play in the World Cup but is it realistic, I really do not know”, Van Ginkel was quoted as saying by Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad.

“What everyone can see is that you have to play for many minutes to be eligible for this coach [Van Gaal] and currently I haven’t."

Van Ginkel has made two appearances for Holland so far, and was also part of the squad for the 2013 European Under-21 Championship in Israel.
