Tottenham Hotspur are already advanced in their planning for next season and have set their sights on prolific Standard Liege striker Michy Batshuayi.

The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for Standard Liege this season, hitting 18 goals in 29 top flight games.

However, the Belgian side's chances of keeping hold of Batshuayi into next season appear slim, despite having the striker locked down on a contract running until 2018.

There is interest from a number of clubs and the Belgium Under-21 international recently announced his desire to leave for a bigger league, pinpointing Tottenham's rivals Arsenal as his preferred destination.

"Unfortunately I do not think I'll stay", he said last Tuesday.

"Many things can still happen, but I am someone who has goals. I want to progress as quickly as possible.

"I'm interested in the German and English leagues. They are physical and technical leagues.

"Personally, I like Arsenal."

But Batshuayi may not end up gracing the turf at the Emirates Stadium despite having long been of interest to Arsenal. Indeed, according to Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad, Tottenham are extremely keen on securing his services this coming summer.

Spurs and Arsenal are not the only clubs looking longingly at the Standard Liege hitman however, with Benfica and Everton also having seen themselves linked with Batshuayi.

The striker has a clause in his contract set at around the €8m mark, well within reach of his suitors.
