Celtic forward Anthony Stokes is hopeful about manager Neil Lennon staying at the club after guiding the club to their third consecutive Scottish Premiership title on Wednesday.

A 5-1 mauling of Partick Thistle at Firhill Stadium ensured the Hoops of the league title as they moved 26 points ahead of second-placed Aberdeen.

While Lennon’s impressive work at Celtic Park has seen him linked with a number of English clubs, Stokes wants the 42-year-old to continue his association with the club.

Stokes, who scored a brace on Wednesday, further heaped praise on Lennon as he feels the manager deserves a lot of credit for Celtic’s recent successful campaigns.

“He has been outstanding", the forward told his club’s official site.

"He has built his own squad and he has brought in and all the players here. You can’t praise him highly enough.

“He’s had enough to deal with up here and with that in the background, what he has done has been phenomenal . I’m sure everyone at the club, including myself, is just hoping he stays as long as possible."

Lennon has now become only the fourth manager in Celtic’s history to win three consecutive league titles after Willie Maley, Jock Stein and Gordon Strachan.
