Premier League chief Richard Scudamore believes that the struggles of Manchester United this season are affecting the popularity of the league in some parts of the world.

Manchester United are one of the most popular football clubs in the world and their global fan base is second to none in England. Thus when the team are struggling in a period of transition under David Moyes, Scudamore believes in some parts of the world the interest is waning as the Red Devils’ are no longer title contenders this season.

"It's a double-edged sword", said Scudamore to Bloomberg. "When your most popular club isn't doing as well, that costs you interest and audience in some places."

Scudamore believes there is a lot of confidence that Manchester United still enjoy among their supporters and a strong Manchester United will only be better for the league.
