Juventus manager Antonio Conte has played down the Old Lady’s loss to Napoli by pointing out the vast difference in the transfer spending of both clubs.

Napoli registered a comfortable 2-0 victory over league leaders Juventus on home soil last night, which keeps them third in the league table on 64 points, behind Roma on 70 points.

Talking about the game in the post match press conference, Conte pointed out the fact that Juventus were facing a team that was built on vast transfer sums compared to his transfer spending.

“Let’s also not forget that we were up against a Napoli side who have spent more than 100 million in the transfer market and are built to win", he remarked.

“We’ve invested 25 million, balancing the books with the sales of [Emanuele] Giaccherini, [Alessandro] Matri and [Luca] Marrone.”

The Italian is also happy that he has been able to add top talent to the squad without spending vast sums of money.

“We’ve bought excellent players in my three years here, but without spending those figures.”

Napoli spent more than £88m on players at the start of this season; on the other hand Juventus bought players for around £28m, but also sold players for more than £33m. Their net spend was in the negative.
