Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago Mendes believes that the neutrals will want his team to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League at the expense of Barcelona, as the side from Madrid are the underdogs.
Atletico Madrid have surprised everyone this season and are posing a serious threat to the domination of Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain.

The Portuguese midfielder wants the neutrals to support his team as they embody the underdog spirit that everyone can relate to.
"It's easy for people to identify themselves with us. The [Spanish] society is currently in crisis and we are fighting for La Liga and the Champions League with the big clubs”, the 32-yeard-old was quoted as saying by Spanish daily Marca.

Tiago believes that the people are able to identify themselves with Atletico Madrid because against all odds the team have maintained the composure to fight for the title and progress this far in the Champions League.
“At a difficult time, people identify themselves with us because we fight against the odds. We're like Robin Hood."
Tiago will hope to feature in the Atletico Madrid team that will take on Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Camp Nou tonight.
