Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea believes that his team are under no pressure in the Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich, as no one expects them to win.

Manchester United are currently seventh in the Premier League table and have been knocked out in both cup competitions. The Champions League is now the only hope for silverware for the Red Devils. De Gea and company are about to face reigning European champions Bayern Munich, who won the Bundesliga with seven games left to play.

But De Gea believes that the pressure is on Bayern Munich to perform against Manchester United.

"In many respects, United have got nothing to lose because everyone is expecting Bayern to not just win this tie, but win the whole competition", he wrote in his United Review column.

The Spanish goalkeeper believes that the Red Devils have the ability to shock the German champions. He also believes that Bayern Munich will find them hard to beat and they will provide a fight for the Bavarians.

"But why couldn't we spring a surprise? We all know anything is possible in football…we famously witnessed that against Bayern in '99 on that unbelievable night in Barcelona.

“While this tie looks a very hard task for United, Bayern will know they'll be in for a battle, both tonight and next Wednesday in Munich."

De Gea will man the posts when Manchester United take on Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Old Trafford tonight.
