Paris Saint-Germain assistant coach Claude Makelele has hailed striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his influence on the team and their players.

The Swedish international has been impressive for his team this season having scored 25 goals in 30 league games and has provided his team-mates with 11 assists.

The French league leaders take on Makelele's former club Chelsea in a Champions League quarter-final tie at the Parc des Princes tonight and he along with the manager and players will hope that Ibrahimovic can inspire them to a victory.

"I'm not surprised by what Zlatan is doing at the moment", Makelele told FIFA's official site.

"He's a competitor and a great player who wants to win titles. He always wants to improve; he wants to surpass what he achieved at other great clubs and he's doing everything to make that happen.

"He's the one who carries the others along with him, leading them to new heights.

"Sometimes you have to speak to certain players to inject a little confidence, but Ibrahimovic doesn't need that. He has all the right ingredients already", the former French international added.

PSG currently lead the French league table with 76 points from 31 matches and have been in red-hot form having won their last nine games in all competitions.
