Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed that Wayne Rooney will not feature against Newcastle United tomorrow and may even miss the Red Devils' clash against Bayern Munich on 9th April.

Rooney is suffering from a toe injury, which Moyes has revealed means the England international will play no part against the Magpies.

"We need to monitor it. We'll get him treatment all over the weekend and see if we can speed it up."

Losing Rooney for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich would be a big blow for Manchester United.

Moyes' men held the European champions to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Old Trafford and the Red Devils have been confident about their chances of sealing a semi-final spot in Germany.
