Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has warned his players to expect a backlash from Chelsea when they take on the Blues this Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are coming into the Premier League game on a back of a 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Hughes believes that this is a great time to play Chelsea, but he expects a reaction from Jose Mourinho's men to their defeat.

“From our point of view it is certainly the best time to be going, but what you find with top clubs is they bounce back very quickly”, Hughes was quoted as saying by ITV.

The former Chelsea striker has warned the Potters to expect a strong performance from the west London side as that is what top teams do after a huge defeat.

“When questions are asked of them, more often than not, top teams and top players have the answers.

“We have got to be mindful of that and be ready for something of a backlash.”

Chelsea are second in the Premier League table with 69 points, followed by Manchester City on 67 points, but the Citizens have two games in hand. Liverpool are currently leading the table on 71 points.
