Mata scored in the 39th and 50th minutes, while Javier Hernandez (64th minute) and Adnan Januzaj (90th minute) then completed the rout.

And Moyes was delighted, telling the BBC: "We scored some really good goals and I'm really pleased with the performance today.

"[Juan Mata] was terrific all day for us. So was Shinji [Kagawa] and Darren Fletcher. Some great performances today."

And Moyes, who rested a number of players with an eye on the midweek Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, feels the win shows the strength of his squad.

"I always thought we did have options.

"We have a really good squad of players and we showed it today."
