Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has explained that it is important for his side to play in the Champions League as the tournament contains the best teams in Europe.

The Emirates Stadium club, who are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 73 points from 36 games, need just a win from their final two games to guarantee themselves a top four finish.

And Koscielny revealed that Arsenal are eager to feature in the Champions League once again because the continental competition is the most “exciting” tournament for his side.

The French international further added that playing against top-notch European clubs such as AC Milan, Barcelona and Bayern Munich helps the Gunners to learn and progress.

"The Champions League is a tournament which has the best teams in Europe so we want to play against the big teams because we can judge our level against Milan, Barcelona or Bayern", he told Arsenal Player.

"For the players it's very exciting to play against them because we learn a lot and you progress [individually].

"If you win it's a very exciting game so we want to come back to the Champions League because we love it.

"We are focused for the other games because the season is very long and we want to play Champions League again because it's the most exciting competition for us.”

Arsenal will look to seal their place in the qualifiers for next season's Champions League by defeating strugglers West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
