Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis and Sunderland striker Connor Wickham have received April’s Manager of the Month and Player of Month awards respectively.

Pulis staged a recovery for Crystal Palace this month when the Eagles won four of their last five league fixtures to guarantee survival this season and are currently 11th in the league table.

When Pulis took over at Crystal Palace from Ian Holloway in November of last year, the Eagles were at the bottom of the Premier League on four points from eleven games.

"To win five on the bounce is a wonderful achievement at any football club, irrespective of the name, and it's a testament to the players for their attitude and commitment towards keeping this club in the Premier League”, the 56-year-old told Crystal Palace’s official site.

Meanwhile, Wickham scored five times for the Black Cats last month to lead a mini-revival on Wearside, where Sunderland have picked up seven points in their last three games to climb up to 17th in the league table.

“I’m delighted to receive the award and it means so much to me”, the Englishman told Sunderland’s official site.

“We’ve picked up some great points in recent weeks and we need to keep going.”

Wickham scored a brace at the Etihad against Manchester City to earn a point for the Black Cats and dent the Citizens’ league title hopes.
