Ryan Giggs has revealed he would consider staying at Manchester United for another season as a player if the club's new manager, thought likely to be Louis van Gaal, wants him.

The 40-year-old is currently serving as interim player-manager at Old Trafford following the sacking of David Moyes from his post last month.

Giggs is guiding Manchester United through their remaining fixtures this season, while Van Gaal is expected to take the job when he leaves his post as Holland coach after the World Cup.

And on whether he would stay under the new man, Giggs was quoted as saying by the BBC: "It's my decision and whoever comes in, if they want me."

The Welshman did confirm however that he is not willing to rule out leaving Old Trafford to manage another side, though he will not move elsewhere to play.

"You can never say yes or no.

"I'm still a young man in relative terms in management."
