Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson believes that he has been learning continuously from team-mate Fabricio Coloccini and hopes that they can build on their chemistry during the next season.

The Magpies returned to winning ways against Cardiff City at the weekend, after a disappointing six-match losing run.

The win means that the Williamson's team are now placed ninth in the Premier League with 49 points, leading Stoke City by two points.

The 30-year-old, who has played in 32 league games for the Magpies, feels that working with Coloccini over the years has helped in his development as a defender.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed it", Williamson told his club's official site.

"If you look at the season we finished fifth, the last 25 games we played week in, week out together.

"We've got a good understanding and we just need continuity and I think, for me, it's just a learning curve every game.

"He's fantastic to learn off, so it's a good platform and hopefully we can build on that next season."
