Inter Milan full-back Jonathan Moreira has put the inconsistent performance of the Nerazzurri this season down to the lack of experience of a young squad.

Moreira joined Inter Milan in 2011 from Brazilian outfit Santos and signed a four-year contract with the club.

"In my opinion it’s because the team is young, in the sense that we’ve only been together for a year. It takes time to gain confidence in our way of playing”, the Brazilian told the club’s official site, when asked why their form has been so patchy.

The 28-year-old believes that the squad have enough quality, but just need to mature to play against different kind of teams in the league.

“We have quality footballers, but we have to be more mature and clever when the other teams come here and defend the entire time.”

Moreira is bullish about Inter’s prospects next season and believes that quality will be added to the squad this summer to allow them to launch a credible title challenge next campaign and also compete in Europe.

“Can Inter come close to a Scudetto next season? As Inter players we always have to aim high, and with the team in Europe we’re sure to add some quality players.

"I’m certain Inter have what it takes to play in Europe and we’ll be able to compete against Juventus, Roma and the others."

Inter's last trophy was the FIFA Club World Cup in 2010, since then they have failed to add any more trophies to their cabinet.
