Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has revealed he is still in the dark over what announcement club owner Randy Lerner will make in the coming days.

There is interest in Aston Villa from a number of parties and Lerner is believed to be preparing to sell the Premier League club.

The American has promised to issue a statement to clarify the situation at the end of the season, which is rapidly approaching.

And Lambert insists he is still in the dark, telling Sky Sports following his side's 4-0 defeat at Manchester City this evening: "I don't know [what Lerner will say].

"As I say, the chairman will say what he's going to say in the next six days or so.

"I really don't know and that's me being honest."

Asked whether he would still like to be in charge of Villa next season, Lambert replied: "I'd love to be.

"It's a brilliant club, got a brilliant fan base, a huge club.

"I've seen the fan base it's got, but you've got to live up to that and at the minute we haven't done that."

Aston Villa sit 15th in the Premier League standings.
