Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed Southampton's Adam Lallana as a "terrific" player, but has refused to be drawn on speculation he wants to take him to Anfield.

The Reds have been linked with launching a bid for the England international as Rodgers looks to strengthen his side ahead of a Champions League campaign next term, while Rodgers will also want his men to challenge for the title once again.

However, the Northern Irishman is keeping his transfer cards close to his chest, especially with regards to Lallana.

"I'm sure you can respect that I would never ever mention about another player at another club", Rodgers told a press conference.

"Adam's a terrific young talent and young player, but there's always speculation about top players", the Liverpool manager added.

Lallana has clocked up 37 appearances in the Premier League for the Saints this season, scoring nine goals.

The 25-year-old is gunning to shine at this summer's World Cup with England.
