Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is of the opinion that it will “need a miracle” for Manchester City not to win the Premier League title this season.

The Citizens, who brushed aside Aston Villa 4-0 on Wednesday, are now clear favourites for the title with just a round of fixtures remaining in the season.

The win helped Manuel Pellegrini’s side to move two points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table with 83 points from 37 games.

Even a draw against West Ham United in their final game of the season on Sunday will make Manchester City champions because of their superior goal difference to the Reds.

Hence, Wenger congratulated the Etihad Stadium club in advance and also lauded Manchester City’s character, especially for their 3-2 win over Everton last weekend.

“It looks like [City] will win it now. It will need a miracle for them not to win it”, the Frenchman told his club’s official site.

“Congratulations to them. I believe it was very tight at the top and very tight at the bottom.

“It was a season where Man City just won it in the end, getting over the line.

"They won a marathon and they turned up in the last 100 yards. But they turned up when it mattered.

“There were a few turning points and certainly the [biggest] was the Everton game that they won. It was not easy for them, it looked very difficult for them to get over the line.”
