Ryan Giggs has provided a fitness update on Manchester United duo Phil Jones and Wayne Rooney.

Jones picked up a shoulder injury during Manchester United's victory over Hull City earlier this week, while Rooney was sidelined for that clash.

There had been concerns over the pair's fitness ahead of the World Cup, but Giggs believes they will be fit for the summer tournament, even if Jones is sure to miss Manchester United's last game of the season on Sunday and Rooney is a doubt.

"He’s out of Sunday’s game but should be OK for the World Cup", Giggs told a press conference.

"Wayne Rooney has started training again after a groin strain and is a doubt for Sunday’s game but, again, is fine for World Cup duty", he added.

Manchester United can potentially still finish sixth in the Premier League if they defeat Southampton on Sunday and Tottenham Hotspur lose at home to Aston Villa.
