Cagliari sporting director Nicola Salerno insists he is not concerned about continued talk of the club being sold to an American consortium, with his view being that Massimo Cellino will always do what is best for the Rossoblu.

Cellino, who recently acquired 75 per cent of English Championship club Leeds United and has thrown himself into plotting the club's promotion to the Premier League, is thought ready to sell Cagliari to the American group if a deal can be done.

The American consortium have been linked with appointing Claudio Ranieri as coach if they succeed and big changes could be afoot at the club.

But Salerno is not overly concerned and is trusting in Cellino to look after the club.

"Will Cagliari speak American? I do not know anything about this but I have read some things", he explained to Itasportpress.

"But what I can say is that president Cellino is on our side.

"He will protect us 100 per cent."

Cellino has been linked with wholesale changes in playing personnel at Cagliari, with several players on his radar to shift to Leeds.
