Italian outfit Napoli are in pole position to capture the services of defender Nicolas N'Koulou from Marseille, according to Italian daily Il Mattino

The Ligue 1 side have been going through financial difficulties, with the 24-year-old likely to be a casualty to solve their problems.

The defender has been an important part of the team this season, having played 36 league games for Les Phoceens and has scored two important goals.

"We had an offer from Napoli in mid-December which was for more than €12m and was not acted upon", club president Vincent Labrune had revealed in January while talking to French radio station RMC.

He had also insisted on Marseille's desire to keep him at the club adding: "There is little chance of him going".

However, the door has now been opened by the club and several clubs including Napoli will be on the lookout to get the deal done.

Premier League side Arsenal have also shown interest in securing the services of this talented Cameroon international.
