The starting gun has been fired on the summer chase for Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk, with Russian Premier League side Dynamo Moscow preparing a big-money bid for the Dutchman.

Van Dijk joined Celtic from FC Groningen last summer and wasted little time in impressing in the Scottish Premiership as his side picked up the league title.

The defender has been linked with a number of clubs and Celtic are bracing themselves for serious interest in the starlet.

And it is Dynamo Moscow who are coming knocking first, according to Voetbal International, with a lucrative proposal being put together in the Russian capital.

Celtic are thought to want around €10m for Van Dijk, a sum that the Russians will have little trouble paying.

However, it remains to be seen whether Van Dijk will be keen on heading east.

The 22-year-old rejected overtures from another Russian club, Kuban Krasnodar, last year.
