Robin van Persie insists that Manchester United's lack of European football for next season will not affect his thinking heading into the World Cup.

Van Persie top scored in the Premier League last season as Manchester United won the title by a margin of eleven points. This term has been a very different story however, with the Red Devils finishing seventh and missing out on any form of European football in 2014/15.

The club's troubles resulted in manager David Moyes being sacked, but Van Persie is determined there will be no hangover into his performance for Holland at the World Cup.

"I have for the first time in my life no place for European football", he told Voetbal International.

"But the situation at United has no effect on how I am here [with Holland]."

Van Persie also explained a knee injury has cleared up, leaving him in tip-top shape.

"My knee is back in order.

"In terms of fitness, I'm on the way."
