Ajax coach Frank de Boer has backed Louis van Gaal as the "ideal coach" for Manchester United.

Van Gaal, who is currently in charge of the Holland national team, has agreed a two-year contract to take over at Old Trafford following this summer's World Cup.

No official confirmation has been forthcoming yet however, with Manchester United and Van Gaal seeking to time an announcement to provide the minimum disruption to Holland's World Cup preparations.

And De Boer, who has just led Ajax to their fourth consecutive Eredivisie title, believes Van Gaal will do well at Old Trafford.

Asked about Van Gaal taking over at Manchester United by Inside Futbol, De Boer replied: "Van Gaal is the ideal coach for every club.

"He knows what he wants and has a lot of experience."

Van Gaal is expected to keep Ryan Giggs on at Manchester United as part of his coaching team.
