Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he will be looking to add multi-functional players to his squad during the summer transfer window.

The Reds, who finished second in the Premier League, are back in the Champions League after a gap of five years.

Hence, Rodgers will be keen to assemble a strong squad capable of challenging both in the domestic and the European fronts.

And the Northern Irishman explained that Liverpool are keen to rope in multi-dimensional players who will provide him with flexibility and more options as a manager.

"You'll get some players who are specialists and who need to play in particular positions”, Rodgers told his club’s official site.

“But if we can get players in who are multi-functional, and can play in different roles and are multi-dimensional in their work, it sets us up and gives me more options as a coach.”

Liverpool, who defeated Shamrock Rovers 4-0 in a post season friendly at the Aviva Stadium last night, have already made a bid for Southampton playmaker Adam Lallana.
