Italian giants Inter are preparing to step up their interest in Fenerbahce full-back Caner Erkin.

The left-sided player, who is also capable of operating in midfield, is out of contract at Fenerbahce this summer and has also been attracting attention from Liverpool and Roma.

Erkin's agent has promised to hold talks with Fenerbahce first about the 25-year-old extending his stay, but the jury is still out on whether a deal can be reached.

And Inter, who have also been watching developments, are now preparing to step up their interest in the Turkey international.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, the Nerazzurri concluded at a recent meeting that Erkin would be the perfect addition to operate on the left-side of midfield.

Inter are aiming to equip their squad for an assault on the Serie A title next season and have already snapped up Nemanja Vidic from Manchester United.

Also on their radar is Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna, along with Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra and Blackpool winger Thomas Ince.
