Atletico Madrid have won La Liga after a 1-1 draw away at Barcelona, leaving defender Diego Godin believing justice has been done.

Los Rojiblancos needed only a draw to clinch the Spanish crown at the Camp Nou, while victory would mean Barcelona retaining the title.

However, Atletico Madrid fell behind when Alexis Sanchez scored in the 34th minute, while they were also up against it when Diego Costa and Arda Turan were forced off through injury.

However, Diego Simeone's men did not give up and grabbed an equaliser through Godin in the 49th minute.

Atletico Madrid then stood firm and saw out the game, securing a 1-1 draw and with it a first La Liga since 1996.

Speaking post-match, Godin said: "To compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona over 38 matches was difficult.

"[Simeone] told us at half-time that he was sure we were going to score.

"Football justice has been done", the defender concluded.
