Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has saluted Arjen Robben for his role in winning the German Cup last night.

The Bavarians, who won this season's Bundesliga in record quick time, were locked at 0-0 against Borussia Dortmund in Berlin, needing to head into extra-time as they looked to claim a domestic double.

And the breakthrough came in the 107th minute as Robben rippled the back of the net, the gloss then being put on the victory in injury time when Thomas Muller scored a second in the 123rd minute.

Sammer was quick to pour praise on Robben, not just for his role in the cup final, but also for his dedication to the cause, day in, day out.

"Arjen is the consummate professional who has gone through everything for us since 2012. Every day in training, every day, he is professional", Sammer told the club site.

"There is no higher praise to give him", he added.

And boss Pep Guardiola also stressed the importance of the Dutchman.

"He is a world-class player with whom I am very satisfied.

"I love working with him."
