Former Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti has tipped Javier Zanetti to become the manager of the Nerazzurri in the future.

Zanetti retired at the end of the 2013/14 season after spending 19 years with Inter and played his last game in a 2-1 defeat to Chievo.

The Argentine was Moratti’s first signing as the president of Inter in 1995 and the Italian feels that Zanetti has become synonymous with the Nerazzurri.

"Zanetti is Inter’s symbol”, the 69-year-old was quoted as saying by Sport Mediaset.

Moratti believes that Zanetti has been groomed to become the manager at Inter Milan and feels that day is not too far away when fans will see the Argentine in the San Siro dugout.

“Javier managing was a project that had already been built but quietly, patiently.

“He has all the qualities to emerge in the management role and he has been preparing for that journey.”

Zanetti won five Scudettos, four Italian Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2010 in his time at Inter Milan. He was also named in the UEFA Team of the Year five times.
