Veteran goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has signed a one-year contract extension with AC Milan that will keep him at the San Siro until the end of the 2015 season.

The 36-year-old has been at the club since 1998 and has a total of 269 appearances against his name.

He however has enjoyed three loan spells away from his parent club at Juventus, Torino and Atletico Madrid.

"AC Milan announces that Christian Abbiati has signed a contract extension until June 30, 2015," a statement on the club site revealed.


The Italian international has played a total of 29 matches for his team this season and has managed to keep 10 clean sheets.

As far as winning silverware is concerned, Abbiati has had no lack of success. He has won a total of three league titles, one Champions League trophy and a Coppa Italia crown with the Rossoneri.

He also played four matches for the Italian national team between 2003 and 2005.
