Sinisa Mihajlovic has confirmed that he will stay with Sampdoria next season and insisted that he never thought about leaving the club this summer.

Mihajlovic has signed a new one-year contract with the club which will keep him at Sampdoria at least until the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

The Serbian stressed that his future at the club was never in doubt and said that he just wanted to reflect on his decision before committing to a new contract with the club.

"My renewal was never in doubt," Mihajlovic told Sampdoria TV. "The club did everything I asked for, I just needed a few days to reflect."

The 45-year-old admits that his time at the club since his arrival has been smooth and he just took time to sign the new deal as he wanted to be clear about the club’s plans going forward.

"It was never a problem as far as I was concerned, I just wanted to know the club's plans and speak to those people in charge of transfer strategy.

“Nobody can give guarantees, but just as Samp has faith in me, I have faith in the people who work for this club."

Mihajlovic joined Sampdoria in November last year and guided the team to 12th place in the league this season.
